High School Sr. Portrait Shoot

Kristopher Keen

I just recently finished up a photo shoot for a young man for his upcoming 2023 high school graduation. He had one of his favorite locations picked out in Murfreesboro, TN.

I got to the location a couple hours ahead of time and walked around getting some ideas on where to take the photos. This place was loaded with ideas.  One of his must haves was the cannon balls. “We must take a picture with the balls” his mom said. “That’s all he talks about.” Yup boys will be boys, I would love to photography him in front of the balls.

We had a few shots before this location, but I wanted to make sure we got there for him. On the way across the park from there we found this amazing looking trellis. We had to go over there and check it out. I took a few shots down on the steps, but suggested we explore up top. We managed to get a couple great shots there.

One thing I wanted to do was to get the lattice roof in one of the shots. I gave him a quick warning that I was going to get low on the ground and snapped a couple of pictures.

After we got finished up in the graveyard area, we headed back over to the main park for some more awesome photo opportunities. On the way across the street to the park I mentioned that I wanted to get a photo of him by this wall. He mentioned that he wanted to do it also, but wanted to jump on the wall. This is where probably my favorite photo of the night happened. He jumped on the wall and posed himself naturally in a very comfortable position. These are the shots I really do this for.

Over in the park we walked down a historic trail of the Civil War. In the three days the fighting took place 24,000 people had died. Making this battle the second deadliest battle of the Civil War. We took the opportunity on the back half of our adventure to have some fun with some photos.

After the photo shoot I said goodbye, drove the three hours back to the house and enjoyed the evening at home. The next day I downloaded all the photos to make sure I had a copy of them backed up. Sunday was my day of editing. I am looking forward to more portrait photo shoots for everyone.

Look for my page to be updated with topherkeenphotos.com/pinterestingportraits. Don’t go there yet, but it will be there soon.

Enjoy.
