Creepy Elf on the Shelf Day 6

This photo was inspired on airplane ride home. I was on an over two hour flight getting home from a month long assignment in Houston, TX. The trip was from Houston to Baltimore. I started sketching shortly after takeoff and then decided it was now or never.

I pulled my camera bag out from under the middle seat of the 737-800. I was in the window seat at the time of the photo, but because I was in an exit row, there was no seat in front of me. I had more legroom then I could ever ask for. But because of Covid restrictions there was no one else in my row of seats, which allowed me to do this photo.

Trey tables were allowed to be in the down position. This was my opportunity to take this photo. As the flight attendance went by, I politely declined the snack and water that was offered. I pulled out my creepy elf and set him up on the trey table. He looked comfortable except for the fact that he didn’t waste any time grabbing the air sickness bag out of the seat pouch next to him.

I am not sure how an elf that gets airsick in a huge airplane is going to make it as Santa’s right hand man, but I guess that is a problem for another day.

The sketch below was drawn up minutes before the actual photo that will be displayed below it.\

I hope you all are enjoying this series so far. Originally I was extremely ambitious and wanted to make 25 of these photos and offer them as a complete advent calendar, but I have modified my goals and this is going to be the 12 days of the Creepy Elf on the Shelf.

This is the last of the 12 that I am going to offer with a sketch. I have had several opportunities to just go out and free shoot with the elf, so that is what I did. Those will probably round out the final 6.

Day 5,

Sam finds himself on a streak catching the elf. Today he was sitting on the shelf minding his own business when the little red “Elf on the Shelf” came strolling by. He just couldn’t resist. One swift swoop and he was captured. Caught behind glass the little elf had no idea what happened. How did I get in here, he though? Then he saw the hands of Sam reach around and glass and start to laugh. Although you guys are too cute for your own good, you just don’t seam to move very fast. I guess you little guys have had many years of slow movements to prevent getting caught by the little children in which you are suppose to be watching. What’s that in your hands, did you accept a bribe? What did the little kid do that was so wrong that he felt he didn’t want Santa to know about?

I hope you enjoyed this story and this photo. Below is the concept sketch as always along with the final photo.

Let me know if you have any questions about this series. At the time of writing this post all the photos in the series have been shot and I am in the process of putting together the product concept. I will be officially launching the prints hopefully by the 1st of December so my fans can have them in their home for the holiday season.

Happy Elf Hunting. Don’t forget to pay the elf off

Creepy Elf on the Shelf Day 4

Welcome to my Creepy elf on the shelf series. This series if you haven’t read my previous post is about an Elf named Sam. He has an agenda to stop the corruption within the elf community. Sam has not been the pretty elf, so he was not selected to be one of Santa’s special elf agents. I bet you didn’t know this, but if you are a bad child you can change that report to Santa by simply offering him a bribe. What Santa doesn’t know wont hurt him.

Sam originally had more integrity than that and wouldn’t accept a bribe. Unfortunately his crusade to expose the corruption in the elfin community he has gotten carried away. This image in this blog is not the exception.

Below is the sketch of the drawing. I was sitting at my chair in the hotel room when the idea hit. I had to sketch it out.

The sketch depicts Sam trying to get the elf on the shelf in the microwave after catching him. He caught him, He was so happy and didn’t know what to do with him. The microwave was his first though. After all, it was on a shelf. After sketching it out I decided to set up the photo tonight and it couldn’t of turned out any better. The following imaging
